I haven't really done much with this site as of late. Mainly, this has been due to me graduating fairly recently and having spent the past few months furiously trying to hunt down a job. I've spent so much time on job-hunting that it's practically turned into a job all on it's own! Updating the Dec site has hence been quite far from my mind, as I just haven't had the time (or the inspiration) lately.

Still, Francis E. Dec is by no means dead (well, he is, but, uh... you know what I mean)! I've decided to begin work on a Dec rant today. Expect it... well, I'm not sure exactly when, but I'll try and draw as fast as I can. Since I know y'all are probably hungry for fresh updates, I'll try and pick one of Dec's shorter rants. That way, illustrating it shouldn't take as long!

I currently hold an MA in Translation Studies, and BA:s in Swedish and English, respectively. My career preference is to work as a translator between said languages, which is also what I'm trained to do.

Dec rant, and they are dense and use lots of concepts that are taken for granted. That is to say, you're just plain good at understanding written texts!

Hey, thanks! That's very reassuring to know!

The thing you say about understanding what Dec writes of is pretty funny: I've always understood (more or less) what it is Dec rants about, but I doubt many other people I've played the rants to during the years have. Most people have reacted merely with bemused irritation, or haven't really understood any of the topics with which a particular rant have dealt. I realize Dec's style of writing is highly irregular and his concepts quite alien to logic and reason, but I've still always thought it's quite easy to follow along with the stuff he writes about regardless. That was actually one of the main reasons I decided to illustrate the rants in the first place, in order to make them more understandable to people challenged by Dec's style of writing. I hope I've succeeded in this endeavor!

Happy belated Easter, by the way!

In my opinion, understanding a Dec rant isn't about language skills. I bet any swedish high school student could understand the average Dec rant just fine.

Much like Zero, the people I've shown the rants have just shown signs of mild irritation. They understand the english just fine, but some mental barrier prevents them from REALLY listening, the famous "Dec Effect", which has been brought on topic before. This may or may not have something to do with frankenstein controls.

Ontopic, a new illustrated rant would be awesome. It's been far too long.

Completely offtopic, I took this picture of a couple of CIA underlings last week in New York.
They were clearly up to no good.

New rant is now added, namely "MASTER RACE FRANKENSTEIN RADIO CONTROLS". Yeah, I realize y'all have read this one already, but I wanted to get rid of those stupid "FORTHCOMING" squares on the rants page. We're not out of new Dec rants by a long shot yet, so don't worry about that! Just wanted to add this one in for the above reason, as well as for the sake of completeness (as I mention in the rant's intro, I think it serves very well as a "manifesto" or primer of sorts into Dec's more "advanced" concepts). Also: It was pretty short, which made it easier to finish comparatively quickly, given how much I've had to do recently (see above)!

I've also added both versions of Doc Britton's recordings of this particular rant. AND!!! I've cleaned them up by removing the background noise, hissing and static! The result came out pretty clean, and now you can listen to both recordings the way they were originally meant to sound (or, pretty close anyway, it was impossible to make the audio quality 100% perfect in either rant).

Big ups to forum user "WinnieMaeAirplane" who originally donated the second, pr0n music-inspired rant!

The next rant I add will be a new one! Promise! In the meantime, I hope you'll all enjoy this one, as well as the fresh audio!
